The Way Down Wanderers & Chicago Farmer

Join us at the Scotty for Wandering Home for the Holidays with the Way Down Wanderers and special guest Chicago Farmer! On December 17th the Way Down Wanderers return to the Scotty for another epic performance! Often referred to by fans as one of the hardest-working, hardest-touring bands on the circuit today, the 5-piece Illinois-based act not only proves that classification with their jam-packed tour schedule but also on stage every night, with youthful exuberance and a lively stage show, as reliable as it is infectious.

High energy percussion, mandolin, guitar, bass, banjo and fiddle weave seamlessly together to create an experience for fans that has sold out shows across the UK and the United States, filling the front rows with fans not just singing along to one tune, but singing along to all of them. “Everybody says it. We’d be nothing without our supporters. Yeah, they buy tickets and of course we love that, but when we’ve been on the road for 10 hours and walk onto a stage road weary and we see familiar faces singing along, it’s hard to describe. It's everything, really. There’s a whole lot of love there.”

Music enthusiasts are not the only ones taking note. Critics and tastemakers alike have awarded the young artists an impressive number of accolades!

The Way Down Wanderers welcome special guest Chicago Farmer! The son of a small-town farming community, Cody Diekhoff logged plenty of highway and stage time under the name Chicago Farmer before settling in the city in 2003. Profoundly inspired by fellow midwesterner John Prine, he’s a working-class folk musician to his core. His small town roots, tilled with city streets mentality, are turning heads North and South of I-80.

Don’t miss this amazing show at the Scotty on December 17th! Last year’s show sold out, so get your tickets ASAP!

Jim Messina

Jim Messina

Join us in welcoming Jim Messina to the stage of the Scottish Rite Theatre!

As undisputed expert in the fine art of making hit music, Jim Messina's legacy of musical genius spans five decades, three super groups, a vibrant solo career, and scores of producing and engineering credits.

While acting as producer/audio engineer for Rock & Roll Hall of Famers "Buffalo Springfield," Messina ultimately joined the band as its bass player. When "the Springfield" disbanded in 1968, Jim and fellow bandmate Richie Furay formed "Poco." With Jim on lead guitar, Poco defined a new musical genre, country rock. After three successful albums, Jim was ready for a change and left to return to his passion for producing music. He signed as an independent producer with Columbia Records.

In November 1970, Columbia asked Jim to work with an unknown Kenny Loggins. While helping Kenny get ready for a record and touring, the two discovered that they worked well together and Jim agreed to sit in on Kenny's first album. "Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin' In" was released in November of 1971 and an accidental duo was formed. Over the next seven years, Loggins and Messina released eight hit albums, had scores of hit songs, and sold over 16 million albums. They had become one of rock's most successful recording duos ever, but it was time for the duo to go their separate ways.

After a series of celebrated solo accoustic tours, Jim formed a band made of acclaimed musicians who have played with him at various points in his career. His latest release, "In the Groove," includes selected hits from all three of Jim's previous bands, as well as several of his solo works. Touring the country and playing sold-out shows, Jim says that he's enjoying discovering who he is, where he's been, and, most significantly, where he's going.

We Banjo 3

Please join us in welcoming We Banjo 3 to the stage of the beautiful Scottish Rite Theatre!
Debuting in the U.S. in 2012, We Banjo 3 has since emerged as fast-rising touring darlings in the country of which two of the members now call home. The Galway, Ireland, and Nashville-based quartet--comprised of two sets of brothers, Enda & Fergal Scahill and Martin & David Howley--continually push musical boundaries while maintaining an unwavering devotion to the essential audience experience. WB3 seamlessly converges the shared and varied traditions of Americana, Bluegrass, and Celtic music with pop-sensible songcraft to create a truly unique and gratifying signature sound. Brilliantly commanded instruments--banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and percussion--effortlessly elevate the lead singer David Howley's propulsive voice. Live on stage, their songs carry the listener along until, at the perfect moment, the band crescendos into catchy choruses with pitch perfect harmonies. We Banjo 3 delivers their music with such palpable rapport, stunning precision, and infectious energy, it's impossible to pigeonhole what kind of listener might suddenly consider themselves a WB3 fan.

With recent stunning performances at such broad ranging festivals as Merlefest, BottleRock, Summercamp, ROMP, Wintergrass, and others, enthusiasts of almost every genre of music are taking notice.

This performance is sure to be a sell-out! Grab your tickets while you still can!

Davina and the Vagabonds

Davina Sowers and The Vagabonds have created a stir on the national music scene with their high-energy live shows, musicianship, sharp-dressed professionalism, and Sowers' commanding stage presence. With influences ranging from Fats Domino and Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits, the band is converting audiences one show at a time, from Vancouver to Miami and across Europe. In 2011, Davina released her first full length, all original album Black Cloud. It was named one of the 10 best releases of the year by the Minneapolis Star & Tribune and awarded 4.5 stars from Downbeat Magazine. Their next release in 2014, Sunshine, hit number 13 in the Billboard Blues Chart and led them to landing a performance on the hit BBC show, Later, with Jools Holland. Davina and The Vagabonds shows are filled with New Orleans charm, Memphis soul swagger, dark theatrical moments that evoke Kurt Weill and tender gospel passages. Davina's voice and stage presence defy category in a different way. Davina has been compared to Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday, and Betty Boop, but comparisons don't suffice: Sowers is a true original.

Bringing you 100 years of American music and Davina's originals, which lend themselves to the American Songbook, the band brings edgy nostalgia to older generations and fresh new music to younger ears. This rollicking quintet is held together by Sowers' keyboard playing, with acoustic bass, drums, and a spicy trumpet and trombone horn section. The group's focused, clean sound and emphasis on acoustic instruments is novel to both blues and jazz worlds, and sets the show closer to New Orleans than to Chicago. This has set The Vagabonds apart at festivals in Thunder Bay, Ontario; Sghisoara, Romania; Sierre, Switzerland; Kemi, Finland; the 2012 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and the 2013 Monterey Jazz Festival. Catch this one-of-a-kind live show at the newly renovated Scottish Rite Theatre in Peoria!

The Long and Winding Road

Join us at the Scottish Rite Theatre for The Long and Winding Road: The Music Of John, Paul, George and Ringo, from the rooftop into history!

On January 30, 1969, The Beatles performed an unannounced concert from the rooftop of their Apple label headquarters building at 3 Saville Row, within central London's office and fashion district. The impromptu live set was the culmination of sessions that resulted in the album and film "Let It Be" (currently expanded into the documentary film "Get Back"). Within less than a year the Beatles as a band were no more, and the members began prolific solo careers that continued producing memorable music throughout the following 50+ years.

On January 30, 2022, The Scottish Rite Theatre proudly presents a live tribute to the Beatles collectively and individually, covering the entire "Let It Be" album and a wide selection of solo material from John, Paul, George and Ringo. The show will feature many of the area's most established and respected musicians from such area groups as The Nikbeats, Kool Ray & the Polaroidz, Ready Steady Go, Johnny Quest, The Bogart Jones Band, the Matthew Curry Band, and others.

Sweeney Todd: The Ballet

The time has come: The Scottish Rite Theatre officially opens to the public on Halloween weekend! We are beyond excited to welcome you inside these doors for our big opening weekend with a very special production of Sweeney Todd: The Bloody Barber Meets Ballet by Central Illinois Ballet (CIB).

Join us for two nights of performances - in costume if you'd like - and experience the newly renovated Scottish Rite Theatre October 29-30 for the first time since the completion of our months-long restoration of this beautiful space.

You are sure to be on the edge of your seat laughing at the quirky Tobias Ragg, moved by the plight of Johanna, and thoroughly spooked by Mrs. Lovett's questionable meat pies. Don't miss this premiere by CIB dancer and choreographer Jessie Williams in her very first full-length ballet with this company!

Feel free to join in the spirit by dressing in your favorite Halloween costume. Our beautiful new full-service bars will be open both pre-show and during intermission. We are so excited to finally welcome you inside these doors!

Doors: 6:00pm
Show: 7:00pm
